Making Healthy Choices for Your Ferret

Ferrets are obligate carnivores, which means that they need a diet high in animal protein and fats and low in carbs and sugars. The healthiest food and treats are those that are meatbased, with little to no sugar. Food should have a minimum of 35% percent protein and around 20% fat. High quality sources of meat/animal protein should be at least 3 of the first 5 ingredients. Treats such as Yogies and other treats high in sugar should only be given sparingly under very strict moderation.

Some healthy treats include:

  • TheFerretStore.com Superior Choice Single Ingredient Ferret Treats
  • Totally Ferret Treats
  • Totally Ferret Chicken Bits
  • N-Bone Chew Treats for Ferrets
  • Hyperfur Cheweasels
  • Hyperfur Foamy Fries
  • Marshall Super Chews
